BΘΠ Leadership Consultant Visit Report
March 19—20, 2007
University of Maine, Beta Eta
I have recently updated the chapter’s statistical information with the Administrative Office. Please click here to check the information’s accuracy. If there are errors, please contact me directly.
During this visit, I worked with the chapter on the following items:
1. Standard Chapter Operating Expectations:
Ø Advisors
o The chapter currently has 3 of the 5 required advisors.
o Karel Lidral will be stepping down as Chapter Counselor at the end of the semester
o President Josh Lagasse will work with District Chief Ben Swartz to identify potential advisor candidates. This will be a key area of focus for the chapter in the fall.
Ø Delegate to 168th General Convention
o Josh Lagasse is currently registered to attend Convention as Beta Eta’s delegate.
Ø Finances
o The chapter has done an outstanding job this year at paying its bill in a timely manner, as is typical of the chapter.
o At the time of this report there was $2,970 in the 30-day column. The chapter said that it would pay the remainder of its bill of promptly.
Ø Leadership Opportunities
o Beta Eta is planning on sending a minimum of 5 individuals to leadership opportunities this summer:
§ The Wooden Institute:3
§ Leadership College: 2
§ Leadership College: 1
o Registration deadline for all summer leadership opportunities is April 1st
§ So far the 3 men of registered for Institute and 2 men for Leadership College.
Ø Chapter Reporting
o All online reports are up-to-date.
o The chapter owes pledge cards for the spring pledge class.
Ø Risk Management Rating System (RMRS)
o Four outstanding reports for the 2006-07 school year: Deadline for submittal is June 1st
§ Alcohol Awareness Program
§ Additional Responsible Personal Lifestyle topic
§ House Inspection
§ Risk Management Policy Education for New Members
o The key to these requirements is that the chapter officer goes online and reports the dates that these events occurred through the chapter’s online reporting page.
Ø Positive Pledge Education Assessment (PPEA)
o Deadline for certification submission is June 1st
o Two new components need to be added to program
§ Education on SCOE/ Sisson requirements/ Knox Award requirements
§ Post-Initiation Ritual Review Meeting
2. Recruitment Through Scholarship: The chapter plans on applying for the Recruitment Through Scholarship (RTS) grant. The deadline for applications is April 1st.
3. Attended Chapter Meeting: I attended the chapter’s weekly meeting. The men of Beta Eta are very structured and organized during their meetings. The men have increased accountability within the chapter especially pertaining to finances and responsible conduct. Additionally, I was very happy to hear that the chapter raised over $4,000 at the annual Beta Sleepout. I encouraged Beta Eta to apply for the John Holt Duncan Award. Overall, a very good meeting—I was happy to be in attendance.
The key action items to follow-up from this visit are:
· Finalize the remaining registrants for The Leadership College before April 1st.
· Submit the chapter’s pledge program by June 1st to District Chief Ben Swartz
· Send in the spring 2007 pledge card to the Administrative Office.
· Submit the reports for the four outstanding reports for RMRS.
The General Fraternity is always seeking your feedback on ways to better service our constituents. Please click here to give feedback on my visit.
Sincerely and in _______kai_______,
